Nonfiction Writing

Literary analysis and memoir are my nonficiton genres of choice. I find myself at home when analyzing pieces of literature as well as citing the text itself. However, that does not mean I lack creativity in the nonfiction category. A combination of injenuity and practicality make my nonficiton writing unique and thought provoking.

A Not-so-Super Heroine: Ms. Marvel's Choice is not an Option

My capstone literary analysis project from my undergraduate program in English Literature. I tackled the anti-feminist portrayal of Ms. Marvel in the original Marvel Comics from the 1970s and 80s. This paper received the humanities award at the University of Redlands.

Behind a Screen

Labeled an "Unessay", Behind a Screen is a non-traditional analysis of The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton. The book focuses on the gossip based culture of the upper class, which my analysis adapts into a modern social media environment, complete with my own criticism as well as that of another literary critic.

A memoir of one of my first days subsitute teaching during my teaching credential program. This memoir covers the events and emotions that impacted me more than I ever expected.
